Bailed Out Megabanks Still Not ‘Too Big To Fail’ Consumers

As the U.S. Government’s Troubled Asset Relief Program—TARP—-marks its one-year anniversary this Saturday, BancVue the leading provider of innovative products, dynamic marketing, and data-driven consulting solutions to community banks and credit unions across the country, announced today it is witnessing community financial institutions gaining significant traction in attracting dissatisfied megabank customers looking to leave the beleaguered institutions and increased fees behind.

Created in response to the Great Recession of 2008, TARP was intended to allow banks, particularly those considered “too big to fail”, to stabilize their wobbly balance sheets. Instead, the megabanks who have received much of the funds have bitten the hand of the taxpayers that have fed TARP by imposing hefty fees on their checking accounts. According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the top four megabanks raised fees related to deposits by an average of 8 percent while smaller banks lowered their fees by an average of 12 percent.

Consumers are starting to take action. From June 2008 to June 2009 community financial institutions saw deposits swell. Deposits at credit unions and community banks increased 8.67% and 5.52%, respectively, according to NCUA and FDIC data.

On 27th july 09 Delhi/NCR saw its actual monsoon clouds after a long delay. Its been raining since evening 5pm, heavy showers have got relief for the residents of the capital and the adjoing area however traffic jams and collected water on the roads have caused transportation issues specially roads coming from gurgaon and noida are facing severe traffic hassles.

The meterological department has said the same kind of wether would contniue on 28th and 29th july and Delhi/NCR might see more heavy showers in the coming 48 hours. No matter rains have got realief as far as the hot and humid wether and higher prices of food items have gone down is concerned, however due to inefficient drainage system other monsoon problems are rising.

A Banarasi thandaai ( a clod milky drink made of milk, pistachios, cashew nuts and badaam or almonds, rose petals, poppy seeds and masalas) can be tried with Bhaang which is prepared by crushing the buds and leaves of Cannabis using a mortar and pestle into a green paste. This green paste of cannabis is can be either taken separately after having a sip of Thandaai or can be mixed with it, its so intoxicating in nature that it may let you see the cows on the road turn into giant dinosaurs or small dogs turning into oranges. Its also known as Shivji ka Prasad ( a drink served after praying lord shiva).

After having a Bhaang Thandaai one can enjoy the world famous Banarasi Paan chewing betel leaves stuffed with mint, coconut, areca nut, tobacco, candied fruit and fennal seeds normally served after the meals however locals don’t ming having a good Banarasi Paan anytime of the day and you will find number of Banarasis with a mouth full and red with a flavored Banarasi Paan.

Places can be seen and visited for relaxation or tourism point of view, however a city like Banaras (Varanasi) will give you the pleasure and relaxation of a lifetime with so much it has to offer for the human mind mouth and body. Sellers in Okhla – vegetable wholesale market say its due to less rains this monsoon resulting into the shoot up of daily use vegetables like Tomato, Onion, Cabbage etc. Delhi residents specially the lower middle class or salaried families have already started Cutting down meals to 1 a day. Price of 1kg of onion has reached upto Rs. 22 per kg which was only Rs.10 a kg couple of weeks ago. Tomato and other daily used vegetables Like potato and cabbage has gone double the prices, 1 kg of tomato is around Rs.42 more than a $ per kg.

Meteorological Department of India says this year monsoon will be 40-50% less than average, agriculture minister Sharad Pawar agreed on the scarcity of rains this year resulting in lower production of food and vegetables specially in the northern India.

Research Shows 52% of Clinicians Have Seen Increase in Eating Disorder Patients

Increasing patient caseloads, professional collaboration/patient sharing and lack of medical resources are among the trends revealed in a May 2009 survey of eating disorder professionals conducted by the Eating Recovery Center (http://www.eatingrecoveryinfo.com), the premier treatment center for eating recovery.

Due to the rapid growth in the number of patients presenting with an eating disorder, as well as increased awareness of the medical complications often associated with eating disorders, clinicians are finding it critical to work with other professionals to effectively treat eating disordered patients.

Among 158 respondents, 52 percent have seen their eating disorder patient caseloads increase over the past three years. While 83 percent of respondents are very comfortable diagnosing eating disorders and 81 percent are very comfortable treating eating disorders, 94 percent responded that they share some portion of that treatment with other professionals.

“Eating disorders are complicated diseases with multiple etiologies,” explained Kenneth L. Weiner, M.D., medical director of the Eating Recovery Center. “As these results show, the vast majority of our colleagues understand that a cross-disciplinary approach is necessary for successful and sustainable treatment.”

When asked why they refer patients, eating disorder professionals point to the following:

· Lack of the medical resources to treat medical complications (63%)

· Lack of the necessary resources to treat patients (49%)

· Patients have co-existing psychological illnesses or addictions they do not treat (38%)

· Their facility is not eligible for or does not accept patients’ insurance (37%)

· They lack the necessary expertise to treat patients (16%)

· Liability issues (13%).

“Results show that the majority of eating disorder professionals will refer patients when they feel they don’t have the resources to effectively treat them,” added Weiner. “It’s critical that when making that decision, clinicians understand the importance of finding the right solution for each patient’s individual needs.”

The vast majority (92%) of behavioral health professionals look to an organization with which they have an existing professional relationship when making a referral. Of respondents, 48 percent consult other professionals, 36 percent rely on a referral from the patient’s insurance company and 23 percent seek referral sources using the Internet. Most respondents (74%) have referred to an eating disorder-specific inpatient treatment center or an eating disorder-specific residential treatment center (73%).

Data shows that most professionals treating eating disorders (86%) consider clinical strength the most important factor to consider when making a referral decision. Other factors considered include reputation of the referral source (47%), cost (36%), location (35%) and aftercare availability (29%).

This survey was completed by 158 clinicians from across the U.S. who are engaged in eating disorder treatment. Psychologists represented 39 percent of all survey respondents, with psychiatrists, therapists, licensed social workers, registered dietitians and other clinical professionals representing the remaining respondents. Nearly half of the survey respondents (47%) treat patients in an individual private practice.
