Introduction to Ponzi Scheme

Ponzi scheme is essentially an investment scam that convinced investors that it can yield extremely high returns with very a considerable amount of money. The promised return usually realized for the earlier investors as long as new investors keep coming in to invest their money. As time goes by, this investment model will inevitably collapse if new investments no longer made.

The term Ponzi Scheme is derived from a real person. He was a clerk by the name of Charles Ponzi. He was believed to be the first to use this type of scheme to come with a scam which eventually collapse in the year of 1919.

Ponzi Scheme explained

People often mistake Ponzi Scheme for Pyramid Scheme or a more localized name of Multi-Level Marketing (MLM). Although they are both very similar in nature which funds are primarily based on utilizing the fresh investments to pay the earlier ones. Ponzi Scheme is more uniform in nature as it consolidate all funds collected from the investors and distributes them based on stipulated terms. The person at the top is able to have absolute control over the full amount of funds and usually is able to dictate how much are to be distributed.

Difference between Ponzi and Pyramid

Pyramid Scheme or MLM on the other hand required the members to market or promote the products or investments and at the same time recruiting them to be members, but as their 'downlines' or in online context 'referrals'. Being part of the term that the products are being sold to these new 'downlines', incentives goes proportionally to the 'uplines'. Thereafter, this 'downlines' went on to recuit more members and money are continously being earned and passed upwards. But the ultimate 'upline' will not be able to control the amount of money as the amount that went upwards are stipulated and generally, the one who recruited the new members or investors got the bulk of the products.

Conclusion

In the perspective of investing, both schemes do not work. At least not for long. Both will collapse eventually when money slows and fresh investments stopped.

Well, judging from the resentment going on with its official forum, it does seems to be causing some worries for the members. My advise is not to put in anymore money into Bux as it is too risky to invest in it now. The payment backlog are still at February 2008 which I cannot help wondering whether it is a cash flow problem or a genuine operational backlog. While it is too soon at this juncture to say that Bux is confirmed to be a scam, it is also too risky to put any money in now.

I could not help but to draw relevance from the situation now of Bux with a PTC which collapsed last year which is known as Paid.Nu. The forum was like Bux forum now with members just keep asking and only moderators are answering the official answers over and over again. No sign of the owner. And true enough, after a few months, it packed up and left members who invested their money utterly scammed. The owner then came and announced that he did not want to cease the business but just that the PTC business model just don't work.

It seems to be rather alarming from the way I look at it after looking through Bux's official forum. Reading the posts in the forum, you will find out more and have a feel of the situation yourself. Lets just wait and see whether I can get my 4 digit payout in due course. But the purchased referrals are not moving one bit at all. Earning has drastically fell.

I am sure that this will be the last PTC that I will be getting myself involved in online earning. From now on, it will be purely get paid to write, review and so on opportunities that I will be focusing on.

In times of recession, people stop consuming and buying and when that happens there is a little necessity to keep the same number of employees to do the job as it lessen. When that happens, the general employees are retrenched. As more and more people were left without work, the ecnomy will become worst until it is recovered.

However, in the current era where technology advances, there is actually a very good option provided you have the necessary skills and ability. Internet is the platform to find information, which most people knows. But what is oblivion to most vast Internet users is that they do not know that Internet is the best place to create wealth. Just take a look at the people who created applications for Facebooks, the amount that they are paid to do that is just incredible. So the stage is set, believe it or not information or contents are money's worth.
