The usage of more PCs will help BSNL to expand its broadband service. Chairman and managing director of BSNL Kuldeep Goyal, said his company took this step to offer consumers maximum access to BSNL's broadband facility .

The alliance of Nova netPC in such a way so that it can be operated like any household appliance.The low-cost user friendly computers from Novation Solutions can operated at touch of a button.The IT products company is expecting to do great businees in India by attaining a subscriber base of 125,000 in the by the end of this year.

Anil Kumble went past Kapil Dev and West Indie's Brian Lara , both of whom have played 131 matches.Anil Kumlbe took tally to 132 Tests when he returned to lead the side in the third Test against Australia Wednesday.

Rain continues to batter Kerala

Heavy rain continued to batter Kerala for four successive day on Sunday,It happens Due to cyclonic circulation which originated south of Kanyakumari at the beginning of the week and moved north during the course of week.Five persons have lost their lives in incidents.

The rain was especially severe in north Kerala,with the guage in several places in the districts of Kozhikode , Malapuram, Thrissur, Wayanadu and Kannur.The meteorology Center says it was looking up the records to assertain whether such heavy rainfall has occured in this place in recent history.

Revenue Minister issued directions to all District Collectors to ensure that relief reached the affected people promptly.As this part of their duty relief camps have started functioning in six places.Paddy cultivations and agriculture fields are going to be bad.Reports about damage to crop and property have started reaching the State control room inThiruvanthapuram.

Busted Twice Over Chocolate!

Overzealous security at two airports interrogated a couple for drug trafficking, when all they had inside their bags was homemade chocolate.

Ron Obadia and Nadine Artemis, health food enthusiasts and owners of chocolate and beauty care company Living Libations were on their way to the United States.

At the Toronto airport, Sniffer dogs 'exposed' the couple when the dogs took an interest in their chocolate. Immediately, the pair were arrested, handcuffed and separated from each other and their six-month-old baby.

Portable drug tests were conducted as the chocolates were not commercially wrapped. The results were positive.

Intelligence agents proceeded to question the duo, convinced that they were smuggling marijuana. The couple maintained their innocence.

"As I was sitting in the cell, I kept focused on light and truth. I felt like no matter what was happening around me, I was opening up a gateway of light and total truth," Ron said.

The couple managed to employ a lawyer who convinced the Crown Attorney to send the sample for proper lab tests. The tests acquitted the pair.

To their horror, they were arrested again when they tried to cross the border into the US with their chocolate. They spent the day in interrogation.

This despite their lawyer notifying the US authorities of the Canada fiasco.

Ron and Nadia now face over $22,000 in legal costs, and are planning to sue the Canadian government for false arrest.

Spies for Hire on Facebook

LONDON - The British overseas security service has recently been using social networking site Facebook to assist in its recruitment drive.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman emphasized the need for MI6 to build up its network of agents.

"The open recruitment campaign continues to target wide pools of talent representative of British society today," she said.

"A number of channels are used to promote job opportunities in the organization. Facebook is a recent example."

In order to reach out to a more varied slice of the population, MI6 started posting job advertisements on Facebook a few weeks ago.

The intelligence service has been recruiting through the mass media for over two years.

Besides looking through the papers or listening to radio, would-be spies can also visit MI6's website at www.sis.gov.uk to apply for a job.

School Fees Paid in Cows

BULAWAYO – Concerned residents have spoken out against Petra High School which has asked for its fees to be paid in livestock and fuel.

Zimbabwe's economy suffers from galloping inflation – the latest annual official estimate puts it at 11,000,000% - making the value of assets such as cows and fuel coupons more stable than money.

Last month, the government revalued the currency, making 10 billion dollars equivalent to one new dollar. Banks have also restricted withdrawals to 1000 new dollars a day.

"If you are paying school fees of 100,000 dollars, that means I will be going to the bank for the next five months to withdraw 1,000 dollars," said a parent, Babongile Simanga.

Teachers at Petra High confirmed that parents who are unable to pay school fees could choose to pay in kind, and that the idea came out of meetings with parents, many of whom agreed with the practice.

Now, however, these same parents want teachers dismissed and are calling for government action.

In the wake of the economic crisis, cattle sales have ceased, causing uncertainty over the market value of such livestock. Still, this modified form of barter trade goes on.

"It's not only Petra High school that is doing that," said Dumisa Tshabalala, whose children attend school in the nearby province of Matabeleland South.

"Many schools these days are doing it and we should blame the government not schools."

Man With 86 Wives Detained

LAGOS – An 84-year-old Islamic preacher, Alhaji Bello Masaba, has been detained by a Muslim court here after his failure to divorce all but four of his 86 wives.

Masaba pleaded not guilty to charges of “insulting religious creed” and “unlawful marriage” after his refusal to comply with the demands of local chiefs and Muslim leaders that he abides by Islamic sharia law. Under it, a man may not have more than four wives.

The presiding judge, Abdul Imam, refused Masaba bail in order for the police to complete their investigations and adjourned the case to October 6 2008.

The preacher, who lived with his wives and more than 150 children in Bida town, has had a “fatwa” or a death sentence passed on him by Jamatu Nasril Islam (JNI), a leading Islamic organization. In addition, the Bida Emirate Council has expelled Masaba from his town.

Soon after his detention, Masaba's wives and many of his children staged a four-hour demonstration in Minna, capital of Niger state, against the court's ruling.

The women rode into the city on buses and cars. Holding placards reading ''release our bread winner, we are suffering'' and ''we are legally married to our husband according to Islamic and Nigerian laws," they converged on the Ministry of Justice and held up staff for four hours.

After the Nigerian press began covering the story of his compulsive maritial habits, Masaba received several death threats. His situation has captivated the interest of many in a nation where half of its 140 million people are Muslim.

Giant Pig Terrorizes Woman

SYDNEY - Ms Caroline Hayes, 63, has been held captive for 10 days in her northern New South Wales home by a giant pig.

Described by Ms Hayes as "the size of a Shetland pony," the pig appeared in her neighbourhood with an eye infection. Apparently, its previous owners were unable to manage the creature and had to let it loose.

"One of its eyes it couldn't see out of, so I put cream in it and I fixed it back up, but apparently, it's actually claimed my land and claimed my place," the animal lover told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

It has gone so far as to deny her access to her outdoor toilet.

''This morning, I wanted to go to my toilet, which is outside. I opened up the door and the pig pushed me that hard, it pushed me back into my room, where I fell over,'' she said.

Besides this unlawful obstruction of Ms Hayes' private duties, the pig, nicknamed Bruce, has also been keeping her awake by banging on her door into the wee hours of the morning.

The nearby Murwillumbah Council sent a relief team of rangers but were unsuccessful in their attempts to contain the gargantuan creature.

''The rangers came out to my house yesterday with a dog cage and this pig is that big, it's like trying to put an elephant in a dog cage,'' Ms Hayes said.

Rescue efforts by the rangers will start again on Tuesday, ABC said. Until then, Ms Hayes will just have to find another way to the toilet.
