Obama/Biden's Gun Control Approach Will Not Work
President Obama is a great communicator and strategist, but he is not a great negotiator. His handling of the fiscal cliff is a case in point. With respect to gun control, again, unfortunately, President Obama, a man I respect and admire, has set himself up for a suboptimal outcome. He needs to re-watch the movie Lincoln to get a sense of how hard you have to push to change something as big as the American Constitution. Last week's mass murder of 20 kindergarteners in Newtown, Connecticut was America's wake-up call on gun violence. Without a gun, the perpetrator could not have killed 20 kids before he would have been stopped by the six heroic women caring for them. Description
Group dedicated to the repeal of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment grants citizens the right to bear firearms. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The procedure for amending the United States Constitution is specified in Article V, "The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress." Because repeal of a constitutional amendment can be effected at both the Federal and State level, this group will lobby elected officials at the Federal and State levels and tracking their actual and stated voting record on this issue.
