A mall in Metro Manila that was earlier suspected to have been bombed by a terrorist group a few days ago, were said to be not the handy work of terrorism according to the latest combined police and military investigation. The blame pointed to the inadequate safety measures being implemented by the mall management. The management failed to make assessment of their structure especially in the basement area where a tank of crude oil and the mall’s septic tank are located near each other.
According to the investigators, the basement area lacks the necessary ventilation or air duct that supposedly maintains the temperature. Prior to the blast, maintenance personnel were having some repairs at the basement. The mall’s septic tank is leaking and producing methane that is highly combustible. And after some time, the explosion happened, killing and injuring people in the process. The incident almost blown out of proportion because of differing opinion, accusation after accusation permeates the heating political atmosphere.
But in the end, industrial failure or based on the presumptions, it was a willful neglect on the part of the mall management why the explosion happened. In a few weeks time, maybe the investigators will come up with a comprehensive and detailed investigation report. As such, the individuals or groups earlier suspected of having a hand in the blast will be absolved but not the mall management who is amiss to the safety of their customers.
