Meet Sahiba Sandhu, a multi-talented personality and a Delhiite. Some know her as an Anchor who interviews big celebrities; some know her as an emerging face of bollywood. Recently she acted in “Ehsaas”, a hindi short-film based on the theme of emotions.
Her vision is clear – Do your work honestly and learn whenever possible. Here is her interview:
- How would you describe your kind of person?
Sahiba Sandhu: I would describe myself as moody and bubbly. I can be quiet at first but once I get to know you, I will be completely different person sarcastic, outspoken and silly. I am very happy and compassionate person. I enjoy sharing things and talking to people about variety of things. I love myself and world around me. I love nature, animals and kids.
- It is said that when you start in acting, you learn and perform simultaneously. Do you agree?
Sahiba Sandhu: Yes! Not only in acting but in every field when you perform your skills, you learn too. Practice makes you perfect and I believe every time you perform, that is a practice because you are going to do it better than you did before, you will get new ideas and techniques to do it better. It is my habbit that when I am at shoot, I observe performance of my co-actors and I try to learn from them, too.
- How was your learning experience?
Sahiba Sandhu: It was good. I am still learning. In this field, you have to learn it by your own or have to go to an acting school to learn. Fortunately, I got people who really tried to bring out best in me, especially Mr. Param, the Director of Moonlight Productions (MLP) is one of them and he is a great mentor for me. I feel really blessed to be a part of MLP Team. I am really thankful to Mr. Anoop Panthri, who gave me the chance to act for a teleshopping channel, which was my first-ever acting experience for any television program.
- What inspired you to take up acting? A dream or someone, something inspired you in life.
Sahiba Sandhu: Right from childhood, I wanted to be an actress but things got really complex and I opted for journalism, instead of acting. Lately, it was not giving peace to my mind. Mr. Param played a major role in my life to bring me here. He and my father both, advised me that I should not run for multiple things & instead choose one thing and be stubborn for it. As a result, I left the media channel and now I am just focusing on acting and enjoying it.
- What about your future/upcoming projects?
Sahiba Sandhu: I have one film project in my hand presently; hopefully the work will get started at the end of this year. Soon, Moon Light Productions will release a short film “Khwahishey” where I am in the supportive role of middle-class family girl. The lead role is of Samira Raza.
It was an amazing experience working with her. I learnt a lot from her. Previously, she played role in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and different shows on channels like Star Plus, ETV, DD Kisan. Her on air programs can be seen on channels like DD Urdu, Life OK (Savdhaan India).
We are also shooting for a social documentary/drama on the theme of Swacch Bhaarat Abhiyaan. In this, I am in the role of doctor. Another project (name not decided yet) is also in process, where I will play the role of a school student and you will see me doing funny things. It will be a comedy video.
- So, you are an Anchor too. Which role you like the most – Anchor or an Actor?
Sahiba Sandhu: Both. Actually when I interview celebrities as an Anchor, I get to learn many things from them. It’s a golden opportunity to meet people like King Mika Singh, Malkit Singh, Dilbagh Singh, Shankar Sahney, Pinky Paras, Shamsher Mehndi. Indian Diary (where I interview celebrities) is a program where we share their personal experiences from life and so, I feel really motivated. On the other hand, as it is related to acting (which is my passion) so, I enjoy it too.
- What is the most memorable incident in your life – be it as an anchor or actor?
Sahiba Sandhu: One of the most memorable incident was at Dilbagh Singh’s shoot , where I took King Mika Singh’s interview and he praised that, he has given many interviews but this one was different. (smiles)
- Any message you would like to give to our readers?
Sahiba Sandhu: Follow your heart and the mind will follow you. believe yourself and you will create miracles.
Thanks a lot for your precious time, Sahiba. It was great interviewing you. We wish you the best in your career and life. Best wishes!
