While John McCain has been having problems wooing the conservative voting bloc of the Republican Party, it has been compensated by the strength of the moderate Republican voters that are a bit less conservative according to what the exit polls of the Wisconsin GOP primary had revealed.
CNN has projected that John McCain will with the Washington state GOP primary according to data gathered from early results. He had a strong lead over Republican hopeful Mike Huckabee who is considered an underdog. Huckabee has refused to drop out the race prompting McCain to stay focused on the upcoming primaries and caucuses than the general election.
Mike Huckabee had received the vote for half the conservative voters. He still has gotten the Evangelical vote.
Among the Republicans in Wisconsin, the number one concern to them was the issue of the United States economy. But in the case of those that voted for McCain, they found the issue of Iraq to be more important than the economy. On a side note, Iraq’s government has launched an initiative to gather both the homeless and mentally handicapped to keep them from being used for suicide bombings. This was due to the bombing early February where two mentally handicapped women were used to carry out suicide bombings at a pet market.
McCain had given thanks to those that voted for him in Wisconsin. However, he did not hesitate in attacking Democratic hopeful and frontrunner Barack Obama. He would say that Obama’s leadership would be confused and inexperienced.
While McCain is the inevitable frontrunner, he would need 1,191 to grab the nomination. Huckabee has made sure to remind McCain that he needs to win that many delegates by remaining in the GOP race.
