As the number of colleges and institutions catering to medical education is increasing day-by-day in Orissa, another
perplexing but serious crisis is growing.Unlike most other states,it does not have the provision in the Anatomy act,1975 to seek dead bodies from the relatives of dead people for medical research purpose. It means donation of bodies from the relatives of dead people for study and research facilty. The present act only allows use of unclaimed deadbodies.
As per the available data, there are three private and three government colleges for study of Medical Science.
The prevailing norm allows one deadbody for the purpose of eight medical students but under the present situations, one dead body can be provided only for a group of thirty students.
