Do you have any idea why Myanmar’s military regime refuses to allow international relief agencies to come in and help those affected by the recent cyclone that hit the country?
It’s because the military regime doesn’t trust any members of the disaster teams that will distribute relief goods to thousands of victims in Myanmar. Even if these military generals are stupid, they still have the slightest hint that some of these international humanitarian agencies are just posing as what they are but in fact are on an intelligence-gathering mission to monitor what is really happening inside Myanmar.
At this time, it is very difficult to get inside Myanmar. This is specially true after the crackdown on the monks that participated in the recent mass street protests that resulted in the killing of a Japanese photo-journalist by the military. Scores of monks, who are supposed to be respected and adored by millions of Myanmar’s Buddhist population, were beaten and manhandled on orders of the military generals.
But I have another theory as to why these stupid generals do not allow international humanitairan missions to come in and distribute relief goods. Perhaps, they are still planning and thinking as to what to do with the rest of the relief goods? Or it could be that the Myanmar government wanted to distributed the goods and keep some of them later for the generals’ personal consumption and use. I just hope I’m wrong. Look, if they really are using their brains, they should allow the relief goods to come in as soos as possible so that the cash-strapped government will no longer spend so much on the distribution of disaster relief goods to their own people.
Imagine, even other nations are expressing great concerns to the welfare of the displaced and homeless victims of the cyclone.Yet, these military generals are thinking otherwise. What kind of people are you? We are talking here of a few hundreds of suffering people, but tens of thousands. How could the military regime so inutile to think of .a positive way to just accept the offers of foreign governments. After all, Myanmar will not be compelled to repay what is given to its people. Sounds crazy, but this is reality in Myanmar and only this military regime is insensitive to the sad plights of the people of Myanmar.
