The aircraft, flown by Brig AS Sidhu, the senior most test pilot of Army Aviation and his team, touched down
"The aircraft selected for the expedition was extensively used in operations and is amongst the many Pushpaks’ flown during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It has been mustered from the Patiala Flying Club and reconstructed with the assistance of Punjab Government of Punjab and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), exclusively for historic expedition" said Shri SN Acharya, Officiating PRO(Defence)
Army Aviation Corps will be celebrating 25 glorious years on 01 Nov 2011. Army Aviation Corps was raised on 01 Nov 1986 following the transfer of “Air Observation Post" units from the Air Force to the Army. Army Aviation was equipped with Auster, Krishak and Pushpak aircrafts for its role before they were converted into helicopter in 1968.
Using these aircrafts, the Brave Army Aviators brought great laurels for the organisation. In its last 25 years of existence, Army Aviation has grown leaps and bounds and has proved service of nation.
