Srinagar, July 06, (Scoop News)-A record number of 18994 pilgrims performed darshan of Ice Lingam at the Holy Cave on Sunday.
With sufficient improvement in weather condition in the Yatra area, the Yatris who travelled towards Holy Cave today from Baltal and Chandanwari as well as the Yatris who had to stay at intermediate Camps yesterday, paid darshan at Holy Cave today.
With this, a total 1,12143 pilgrims paid obeisance at Holy Cave since the pilgrimage started on June 28.
The 10th batch of 2,160 pilgrims today left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from Jammu base camp amid tight security.
The batch, including 1,533 men, 443 women, 39 children and 145 sadhus, left in a convoy of 61 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 4:10 AM today, police said.
Meanwhile a Gujrati pilgrim died on way to the holy Amarnath cave shrine, taking the toll to ten .officials said a pilgrim Jigar Kumar Rawat, resident of Gujarat suffered a massive heart attack at Sangam Top.
He was immediately rushed to medical camp where he was declared brought dead.
