4 CMs in 20 years failed to pass Kashmir ‘temples and shrines’ bill for unknown reasons

Jammu and Kashmir: Why are they failing again and again? What is the compulsion hesitating them to pass a much needed bill in the larger interest of secularism and democracy? Why are they incompetent despite parroting communal harmony and brotherhood? Is there any a communal factor, political gimmick or vote politics behind this entire scenario, ask leaders of Kashmiri Hindu organizations, after facing unprecedented dejection from successive dispensations.

It is ironic that successive governments after the forced exile of Kashmiri Hindus from their homes and hearths despite assurances and commitments have failed to pass a bill called Kashmiri Hindus Temples and Shrines Bill. Former CM Dr Farooq Abdullah claims to be a secular and his son Omar Abdullah incumbent CM known for his bold and truthful stature seems to be incompetent in passing the bill for last fours years, they said. Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Ghulam Nabi Azad both former CMs even also failed to prove their metal of integrity and secularism due unknown reasons which failed the to pass the bill, said leaders adding that Four complete CMs failed in performing the task entrusted to them by none other than their own selves.

Terming temples and shrines as cultural identity of the Kashmiri Pandits, Dr R L Bhat urged the state government to move the bill in Assembly and ensure its passage repeatedly, but none of use. "Government had admitted that there are 170 temples which have been damaged during past two-decades in Kashmir. There are over 500 temples…We need to save them", he added. He asked if a Bill to provide better management, administration and governance of Shri Mata Sukhrala Devi Ji Shrine and Shri Mata Bala Sundari Shrine and its endowments including the lands and buildings attached, or appurtenant, to the shrine and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto, through (L.A Bill No. 3) is passed, which is welcome step, then what lies beneath which hesitates government to not pass the bill, he asked?

Chairman All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) Vinod Pandit alleged that government is hand in glove with land mafia which led to encroachment of land of temples. He said pieces of land was transferred on the names of some people by revenue authorities to which APMCC demand through probe but was not considered by concerned authorities and government.
