Srinagar, August 31 (Scoop News) – The Jammu & Kashmir State is all set to host 58th Junior National School Games at Srinagar from September 3rd.
This was stated by Minister for Youth Services & Sports R S Chib at a Press Conference at Youth hostel here today.
Giving details, Chib said the Department of Youth Services & Sports is organizing the event under the aegis of National School Games Federation of India. The tourney will be inaugurated by the His Excellency, the Governor of J&K on September 3 at 11 am at Bakshi stadium, Srinagar, while as the final of the tourney will also be played at the same venue on September 7, 2012 at 3 P.M.
The Minister said that the matches will be played on league-cum-knockout basis. He said over 65 matches will be played at five venues which include Islamia College, Polo ground-A Srinagar and Kashmir University ground A&B.
Chib informed that as many as 600 players, officials and Volunteers from 30 teaclock from August 29 with the contact NO: 0194-2310488, 9419333804 and 9419185946.
Appealing youngsters to visit the venues to witness the tournament with fan fair, the Minister said this will encourage them to take the game of football and also improve their skills.
Chib also made a mention of visit of the Mohun Bagan Foot Ball team to the state and said that it would play two matches in the state one each at Srinagar and Jammu on September 8 and 11 respectively.
Among others, Director, Youth Services and Sports, S. Jaipal Singh, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports Madan Lal, Deputy Director Information Dr. Nasir Lone, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports and Vice-President, School Game Federation of India Ashok Kumar and Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports Mrs. Nilofer Amin were present.
ms representing various states and Union Territories of the country are expected to participate in the tournament.
Referring to boarding and lodging, the Minister said all the participating teams will be lodged at Youth hostel, Srinagar and Sanathan Dharam Pratap Sabha (Yatri Bhawan), Lal Chowk, Srinagar, while as the officials and observers deputed for the tournament will be accommodated at circuit house, Srinagar. The department has constituted various committees to hold the championship in befitting manner, he said, adding that one control room has also been set-up in the Directorate which is functioning round the clock.
