Aid Agencies Need Help? Don’t Worry, Goldman Sachs Bonuses Will Come to the Rescue

Last week I heard on the news that many of the ‘helping’ agencies of New York are way down in donations.  Like many businesses suffering from the economic downturn, so are the small agencies that run soup kitchens and provide support to the needy. They have seen a severe drop in donations.

At first I was worried, but then I remembered that several thousands of people have received enormous bonuses from Goldman Sachs: they will surely come to the rescue!  While people  have grumbled about the obscene billions given out in bonuses to a few thousand people, we have been assured that those receiving them are just nice, hard working people.  So naturally I assume they are not only nice and hard working but compassionate and generous.  I just know they will more than make up for the drop in donations.

Don’t automatically assume  that hese people  will only donate to $1000 a plate dinners where they get to hobnob with the hoi polloi in thousand-dollar dresses. That would be really cynical.   No I can see it now, these nice, hard working people will give a bit of their hard earned bonus dollars to small soup kitchens all over the city.  I can just feel it in my bones!
