AMARINDER’S BOOK ON HISTORY TO BE OUT SOON
Former Maharaja of Patiala and former Chief Minister of The State of Punjab, India has sent the draft of his new book, "THE LAST SUNSET", to the publisher. The book deals with the period between 1839 and 1949 of the State’s history.
His earlier two books – Lest We Foeget A Ridge too Far – were well recieved. "The draft of the new book has been sent to the publisher. I am hopeful that the book will be released in the first week of December", said Amrinder.
"I have worked very hard on this book. It is a result of my 10 years of research on a particular period of History of this region", said he.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who has a prominent place in Sikh History, died in 1839. The spawling kingdom he painstakingly built collapsed in a few years after his death
Many of close relations of Maharaja Ranjit Singh were assassinated. The British annexed Punjab in 1849 and made it a part of their indian territories. However, there were some glaring missing links in events happened between 1839 and 1849.
The former Cheif Minister had visited Nepal where Maharanji Jindi, wife Ranjit Singh, was kept in jail. "I have gone through huge stacks of document available in various archives, libraries and other places as part of my research to write the book", he said.
