As a political refugee from Arizona, I read with interest the recent passage of a bill by Congress sponsored by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords which imposes hefty penalties on the cross borders drug traffickers using ultralight planes in order to transport their wares into Arizona, and thus throughout the United States.
I guess maybe "incredulous" would be the proper term, rather than "with interest."
Not to downplay Ms. Giffords efforts in any manner considering all that she has been through the past year, but it struck me as once again attempting to use political leverage or advantage the motivation for such a measure, rather than actually addressing the true problem of the open border, or an actual solution.
Ms. Giffords, I do honestly believe, has been used once again for political purposes during her recovery, and I truly do not understand how those that would resort to such measures can really sleep well at night.
The point is, ultralight planes have no engines and thus the weight which they carry is basically nothing at all – so that they can fly.
Sort of like those paper airplanes we all made as kids.
Not kilos of drugs, but as weightless as possible.
But I am sure Congress knew that, or at least those in the political know did.
So many of those representatives have oodles of aids to inform them on the border situation and the cross borders drug trafficking, they would have to know.
Amazing just what lengths and how self-serving our poltical agendas have become, to really stoop so low, isn’t it?
And I am very, very sure that many Arizonans didn’t miss the message there. Or came to the same conclusions that I did.
Simply more of the same.
Politics, as usual.
