This is what the new study by American researchers says. The study by the researchers at the University of California, Irvine has revealed that living stress free life is really important for healthy memory and learning, because all short-term stresses, strains, tensions, heated discussions, or tight deadlines can undermine memory and learning. Stress over periods of weeks, months and years increase the production of stress hormone “cortisol” that can damage recall abilities.
Our findings can play an important role in the current development of drugs that might prevent these undesirable effects, and offer insights into why some people are forgetful or have difficulty retaining information during stressful situations.
Dr Baram led team of researchers found that blocking the action of CRH molecules prevented the damage to learning and memory associated with stress. According to Dr. Baram, the new findings could pave the way for the development of drugs to deal with these undesirable effects.
