Paul Davis, 38, an electrician who resides in St. Ann was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment for chopping his ex- girlfriend new lover to death during an argument which happen in September last year.
Paul Davis was found guilty of the murder on July 29 for severing the neck of Ridley Hinds during the dispute in their Mile End Community.
It is reported that Hinds approached Davis holding a building block. It is said that Davis tried to defend himself and Hinds end up getting chopped resulting him being killed. Davis claimed self-defense during the trial.
Davis was told by the judge that his ex-lover had the right to choose a new partner and that he, Davis, should have walked away when being approached.
Davis who was described by community members to be a violent man and who carries a machete around has six children.
Davis was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
