Angry University students from the University of Malawi demanded that the Chief Justice in Malawi should apologise openely for putting the country in turmoil.
The students took advantage of the march organised by Malawi Human Rights Consultative Committee to express the concern of refusal by the opposition not to discuss the budget.
The students are afraid the ruling might affect university education as government may sometimes be forced not to give enough to the University.
Furtunately enough the Chief Justice retired soon after the ruling.
The Chief Justice had ruled on June 16 that Members of Parliament who joined other parties in parliament dumping the parties that sponsored them to Parliament have crossed the flloor and the Speaker is at liberty to declare their seats vacant.
The ruling has made the opposition which has more numbers in Parliament to insist that the 2007/2008 budget would not be discussed until the speaker revokes the ruling which is found in section 65 of the constitution of Malawi.
Because of the insistance ,Parliament adjourned indefinetely and Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe said government will still spend fo pay civil servants and on priority areas.
Since the financial year ended on 31 July 2007 ,the opposition is saying government is spending money from consolidated fund illegally.
