Are the Christian Gospels really good news?
It is not difficult to believe or reason or convince a westerner the Gospel is truly good news. But as an Easterner in the Buddhist land of Thailand where there is less than half a percent of the population are Christians or in the Moslem nations of Malaysia and Indonesia where witnessing Christ is illegal, it is almost impossible to expect an answer that Gospel is truly good news.
Notwithstanding, the fact is revealed in many aspects of the Gospels itself.
Scientific aspect
- We all know that the Bible was written by about a hundred people, in many places and throughout a span of over a thousand years. Yet the theme remains the same from Genesis to revelation as if there is one person who did the writing. That person is God Himself.
- Since we started keeping sales record of books many decades ago, Bible has been being the number one best seller since. Not one single year the record had been broken by any other book.
- Bible has been translated into more than one thousand languages and distributed all over the world.
- The historical records in the Bible have all been proven real through time.
Witness’s aspect
There have been countless witnesses to the Gospel though out the Christian history. You can read of a Dr. who wanted to proof that the Gospel is only a story and went to spend life in Israel to research and find evidence to substantiate his belief. He ended up accepting Christ after years of fact finding and realized that what he found was all pointed to the fact that Christ is the true Savior.
Another witness tells of a man witnessing Gospel to his friend. The friend countered that he would read the Gospel if he allowed to him to rip a page of the Bible to smoke once he had read it. His friend gave him the OK. Months later he met his friend in a church and found out that he is a new believer and member of the church. He confessed t that he burned his smoke through Matthew, Mark and Luke but simply could not pass through John 3:16. How could he? For John recorded that, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Spiritual aspect
The Gospel is not only written words, or emptied promise, but it is well alive and can be sensed. Read the Gospel and you can be spiritually touched whether you believe it or not. God will work in his Gospel to deliver the good news to your heart.
With all these various aspects of truth we have seen, it would not be that difficult for anyone regardless of where you are in this globe to realize that Christian Gospels are really good news.
