The big news is the return of Hernán Crespo to the Albiceleste. He will be replacing Javier Saviola who has come back to earth after starting the season on fire for new club Real Madrid.
Why now? He owns Colombia. The big challenge for Argentina will no doubt be their mid-week to Bogota to face Colombia. Crespo has scored against the Cafeteros in the last four World Cup qualifiers- five if you include the last Copa América. There is talk in Argentina that he might star over Carlos Tévez, but there is the possibility of playing with three up from to take advantage of a Luis Amaranto Perea that makes his return to the national team.
Basile also added five other domestic-based players on Sunday to the list. Boca Juniors Sebastián Battaglia and Hugo Ibarra, San Lorenzo and Estudiantes goalkeepers Agustín Orión and Mariano Andújar, as well as the Apertura’s leading scorer- Independiente’s Germán Denis.
