Chitral shortest route and a gate way to Central Asian republics.
CHITRAL: Chitral is a shortest route and gateway to Central Asian republics. Especially Tajikistan is situated at a distance of 200 Kilometers from Chitral. Construction of Ashkisham Highway will connect Pakistan to Tajikistan and other central Asian republics via Garamchishma. This highway also linking Pakistan to Turkey and China causing for boosting RCD. An other mega project of a high way carrying via Wakhan, Tajikistan connecting Afghanistan to China the project is in the last stage and will be complete in near future. Inayatullah Aseer a prominent social worker disclosed this scribe that he was working as camp manager of survey team of Garamchishma and Ashkashem highway in 1993 where he alleged that I.A. Zafar consultant committed dishonesty and submitted wrong report at that time. He said that survey was not conducted from Chitral to Shughoor through eastern side as a result water supply scheme from Shughoor to Chitral, water channel to Chitral power house andd airport can also be ruined if the survey was not re-organized via eastern side. Besides it the area will also be badly affected by land sliding. He proposed for conducting its survey again from Danin side and construction a bridge at Chitral River near Seen village to save the powerhouse and Chitral Airport.
Aseer suggested for survey in slow grading from Chitral to Gobor valley and it can be connected to Tajikistan near Dora pass without any turn and curve. He said that I.A Zaffar consultant also committed dishonesty at Badakhshan side and extended the road 10 kilometers unnecessarily. He proposed Myco services for conducting their survey once again totally neutrally and based on ground realities. As a result of re-survey of this highway most cultivable and precious land would be saved from damaging and total length of Tajikistan from Chitral will be reduced to 180 kilometers. Similarly after completion of Lawari Tunnel the road may be carried on western side from Naghar to Chitral the length would be reduced as well as it would be caused for minimum demolishing of population and cultivable lands.
In case of working on this highway regarding previous survey pipeline of water supply scheme worth million of rupees would also be damaged and disconnected, water channel of 1 Megawatt hydro power station might be damaged. The road also adverse affecting by land sliding at Lawak. The new road should to be surveyed one kilometer away from Garamchishma at some height to fertile the barren land and on alignment at Droshp if the road was carried at some distance and height from Fort it will be caused for saving Garamchishma, its THQ hospital, and Bazar but it will be needed construction of a stream on road side for felling water in it. Besides it if the road was carried near Zebak near to Badakhshan total distance of this highway would be reduced from 200 to 180 kilometers. The local experts suggested for reviewing previous survey of 1993 for this purpose to reduce total length and saving of money and land in construction of this highway.
In past this route was using by merchandise and they transactions of different items. After completion of this road not only it will be caused for boosting trade but also for promoting tourism especially eco tourism because these people have a very unique culture attracting tourists on domestic and world level. A bridge over the river have already been constructed by Agha khan Rural Support program and it will re-survive the traditional trade between these republics and Chitral and Northern areas. Because this route was using for trade purpose centuries old and people of both countries carrying goods on ponies. This will be cause for bringing a great green revolution in this region and will enhance life standard of Pakistani people as well as people of these far away areas and central Asian republics.
