Whether it is a political bombshell, Australian Prime Minister John Howard was shocked Monday with a magazine poll showing 16 percent of its readers would like to see him naked.
The survey of 1,200 readers of Zoo magazine revealed that one out of six readers wanted to see the Prime Minister Howard with nothing on.
“I’m amazed it wasn’t zero,” Howard told national television as quoted by AFP.
Howard, who is the leader of the country’s Liberal Party and Australia’s second longest serving prime minister, seems to be confidence in defeating his political rival, Kevin Rudd of Labor Party in this Nov. 24 election.
And despite many pros and contras of whether Australians should re-elect the 68-year old Howard who has been in power for more than 11 years – particularly in regard to Howard’s stance on war in Iraq – more readers of Zoo magazine want to see Rudd naked.
Even though Australians have been counting the days of the election, the 50-year old Rudd at least has gained a victory for having 34 percent of Zoo magazine readers wanting to see him ‘in the buff.’
Zoo editor Paul Merrill said, "No one wants a Prime Minister who doesn’t look good naked.”
