Azad makes veiled attack on BJP for its divisive politics

Surankote/Poonch, March 15, (Scoop News)- On the second day of their whirlwind tour of twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, Congress and National Conference leaders stepped their attack on divisive forces and sought support of the people to the strengthen democratic and secular forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing series of public meetings at Surankote and Poonch assembly segments, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad observed that so-called Modi wave was creation of a section of media but on ground there was National Conference-Congress wave in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that people will vote on the development works done by the state and central government.

He reiterated that the country has witnessed tremendous development in all spheres of life under the UPA regime in the past 10 years including in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Azad cautioned the people against malicious campaign launched against UPA Government. He said that there was a need of strengthen parties like Congress at national level to encouraging democratic and secular forces.

Without naming BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Azad said that emerge of divisive forces was against brotherhood and national integration of the country.

He said that the politics of the hatred is a dangerous campaign for the country and urged the people to reject the communal and divisive forces and strengthen the secular and progressive forces in order to strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation and the state. He said that foundation of this country has been laid on secular ideals which is strength of our nation and we should not allow to weaken this at any cost and urged the people to reject such kind of forces who are posing threat to the secular fabric of the nation. He also referred to the numerous achievements of the coalition government in the state by the liberal funding of UPA government and appealed to people to vote in favour of coalition candidates in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, PCC chief Prof Saifuddin Soz said that protecting peoples’ wishes and aspirations were priority of the Congress party. He said it was historical fact that Congress had always protected interest of the all sections of the society.

To highlighting achievements of the Congress party, Prof Soz highlighted extension of 73rd amend in Jammu and Kashmir and creation of new administrative units while giving equal treatment to all regions and sub-regions of the state.

He said that Congress led UPA government in the centre has been providing liberal finance assistance and special packages to the state of Jammu and Kashmir for its faster development and progress in every sphere of life and asked the people especially the Panchayat representatives to act as watch dog over the implementation of central schemes.

Congress candidate and two times MP, Madan Lal Sharma also spoke on the occasion and said that Congress is the only secular party which can take all sections of society equally. He cautioned the hilly populace from nefarious designs of certain political parties that want to divide the people on communal lines. He also said that the democracy can be strengthened by empowering the Panchayat Raj Institutions at the pattern of 73rd Amendment. He further said that Congress will ensure these institutions get due rights to serve the people at the grass root level. He said that Congress alone can ensure equitable development in all three regions and justice to people of all faiths and religion on the path of secularism.
