Chicago Illinois. Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado, 22, who is in his third season in the Major Leagues has been on the 15 day disabled list since August 12.
On August 11, Machado suffered a sprain to his right knee while he was at bat in a baseball game versus the New York Yankees at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Machado is eligible to return to the Orioles active roster on August 27.
The catch is that it is very doubtful Machado will be back in the Orioles starting lineup on August 27. Machado has not started any activities to get ready to return to the starting lineup. In the meantime Chris Davis has played third base while Machado is healing from his right knee injury.
Machado did not play in the first month of the 2014 Major League Baseball season after he had off season surgery on his left knee. Machado is one of the young bright stars of the Orioles franchise. Hopefully his knee injury will not keep him out of the Orioles starting lineup for the remainder of the current baseball season.
The Orioles are currently in first place in the American League East Division. The Orioles need Machado in the lineup since he is one of their best hitters on the roster.
The Orioles are going to be playing the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field for a three game series that starts on Friday.
