Development does not mean erecting huge building without have skilled staff and proper usage of the building, not even does development stands for construction roads upon which no traffic and people walk. But development means the facilities which ease human efforts and the level of patriotism among the common masses.
Dictum issuing should not be the mere business of bureaucrats, minister and especially for policy makers. Polythene ban by the government of the day that too without alternate is clear example that stake holders on the helm of decision making merely believe in giving the dictum. Ban on poly bags is endorsed by Government of India but not for entire trade of manufacturing or utilization of all types of poly bags but only those having below 40 micron thickness. They also suggested that both polythene traders and users should ensure that edibles should not be packed in recycled poly bags which are hazards to health.
Well placed source informed that people who devised mechanism of ban on polythene bags use wrongly conveyed to chief minister that alternative of equal nature would be made available to commoners to avoid any chaos, but the fact of the matter is no proper alternative was given to consumers instead were forced to by a carry bag costing minimum Rs 5, whereas poly bags were being provided free of cost by vendors.
Not only has this but according to a survey near about 50000 people in Jammu city alone were linked with trade of polythene bags business due to ban have lost the livelihood. Besides, big giants of poly business are running their polythene business across the country without facing any ban. If the giant companies involved in the trade would be put under ban not less than two crore people would be rendered jobless, said General Secretary Industrial Association Jammu, Virender Jain.
Employment, development and economic growth is involved in every developed trade and polythene is well accepted brand in present day, that too when foreigners are thinking plastic vehicle to reduce the burden of rising price of steel and iron, certain states of cash starved are banning the product definitely hints at deficiency in policy making or decision taking. The ban should be rethought for interest of society at large and for job particularly.
