Actor Robert Wagner has been in the headlines for most of his life as a star of television and movies. But the 78 year-old has revealed a well-kept secret that he had a four-year-long affair with actress Barbara Stanwyck in his new memoir "Pieces of my Heart."
Robert Wagner says that he met Barbara Stanwyck while they were working on the 1953 film "Titanic." Wagner was 23 and on the rise as a actor and Stanwyck was 45 and divorced. This age difference did not stop them from a burgeoning love that lasted four years and dissolved only because of their hectic work schedules and, yes, the age difference.
Robert Wagner married fellow movie star Natalie Wood around the same time he and Barbara Stanwyck ended their realationship. Wood was 18 when they met in 1957 meaning Wagner went from 49 year-old Stanwyck to 18 year-old Wood.
"I would always have been Mr. Stanwyck," Robert Wagner writes in "Pieces of my Heart," "and we both knew it."
