The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)on Tuesday moved the Madras High Court to restrain Mr.Sandeep Goyal and Rediff.com India Ltd,Mumbai from displaying offering, advertising or using the domain name/trade mark ‘indianfantasyleague.com and /or ‘Indian Fantasy League’ and the logo comprising a device of a batsman playing a shot or any other domain name deceptively similar to BCCI’s mark ‘Indian Premier League’ or its logo shown in relation to their website and online cricket game or similar services.
Justice M.Sathyanarayanan, before whom the suit filed by BCCI came up for hearing, ordered notice to Mr.Sandeep Goyal, owner of the website www.indianfantasyleague.com and Rediff.com India Ltd and posted to June 10, further hearing of the case.
The BCCI also sought a direction to Mr.Goyal and Rediff.com to render a true and faithful account of all the profits earned by them by using the impugned trademark IFL and the impugned logo besides directing them to pay rs 10 lakhs towards damages for the acts of passing off its trademark/title/ name
