Kojagari Lakshmi Puja is performed at most of the Bengali households in Bengal (Oct 11). According to Hindu ritual, Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity is worshipped on a full moon day of autumn.Popular believe says that Goddess Lakshmi blesses those who are found awake throughout the night waiting for the Goddess. Therefore, devotees spend the night sleepless.Kojagari Lakshmi Puja is popularly celebrated in West Bengal to offer prayers to Devi Lakshmi. Bengalis generally perform Lakshmi Puja at night. They decorate homes with ‘Alpana’ and cook special sacred food.
