Dominant Gland Typing, Part 2, Pituitary and Gonadal.
Our Dominant Glands Can Control Our Lifestyle Choices.
Those who fall into the pituitary dominant category can be recognized by their almost childish appearance, even in later years. Usually, the pituitary dominant person will have a larger than normal head, like a small child, and narrower than normal shoulders. A short upper body with long legs, again like a growing child, is another feature of the pituitary type. Most Chinese are pituitary types. Most P types spend a lot of time in their heads and have a tendency to neglect their bodies, including in their choices of food. P types generally consider the body as just a vehicle to carry their brain around. When thyroid, adrenal and pituitary types get together the thyroid types will go for sweets, the adrenals will go for heavy salty foods and the pituitary types head for the dairy. The grownup pituitary type will have a round childish face and any extra weight will generally be all over, but most apparent on the hands, arms, back and chest with the stomach rounded like a child’s.
Pituitary types generally suffer more colds and allergies than the other types, in part because they disregard their bodies in favor of their brains. Pituitary types tend to gnaw on a problem. Like a dog with a bone they have a hard time giving up a problem or dispute even after many years have passed. If you have problem that needs someone to “think it out” a pituitary type is a good person to have on your side.
The final body type is the Gonadal. One doctor who practices the four body type system involving the dominant glands feels that only women are Gonadal types. I disagree.
The G type can be most easily recognized by the fact that most of their weight is carried between the waist and the knees. If a G type puts on any extra weight this will be the first place. They usually have small heads and narrow shoulders. G types are the steadiest of all the types. They are generally the last to be abusive physically or verbally. In comparison to T types who have a tendency to have a short fuse, G types are long on patience. Adrenal types generally take a while to get riled up, but once they do, it takes an equally long time to get them calmed back down. G types are more constant. Pituitary types usually prefer to go hide someplace as opposed to having a confrontation but if a G type feels they’re right they’ll stand up for their beliefs, they just aren’t as explosive as T types or go on as long as A’s. G type women make good mothers because of their more constant demeanor.
This is a thumbnail sketch and none of us fall strictly into one category or another. In order to determine exactly which food, exercise, types of stress and other factors we can best deal with involving our overall health picture a simple but rather long Personal Metabolic questionnaire is required. If you can find the book; DR. ABRAVANEL’S BODY TYPE PROGRAM, FOR HEALTH, FITNESS AND NUTRITION, it has the questionnaire and information in it. I believe the book is out of print.
For complete and lasting overall health, we have to rely as much on personal experience as on laboratory research. We’re all individuals but there are a few basic universal rules that pertain to everything from health to how the stars and planets move. If we understand these principles, we can begin to grasp the fundamentals of personal health. With these universal principles and a thorough knowledge of how our body’s work, we can improve our health from the inside out through prevention, as opposed to relying on intervention.
