Millions of dollars may have poured into the secret pockets of bettors during the Pacquiao-Marquez fight in Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas last March 15, 2008.
These bettors may comprise of ordinary workers and boxing fans who might want to get a real thrill of the fight between the two known protagonists in the ring. But what is not known to many is that the boxing match could have been used to advance the selfish interests of big time gamblers who are used to taking big risks. And they are bothered at all because they have steady sources of where to get those millions once they lose their bets in the boxing match.
During the Pacquiao-Marquez boxing match, known Filipino politicians and government officials were visible on the ring side and atop the ring just after Mr. Pacman won the fight. Nobody has really no idea how much money exchanged hands during the fight. But big time boxing matches would normally attract bettors to take the risks. And there are many people who are known to take the risks for the sake of it.
I just hope that popular politician from the Philippines’ Ilocos province did not raise Pacman’s hands atop the ring for nothing. Both are known to be good friends but there is more to their being close to each other. I wish the Pacman should open his senses to the people around him. One day, he will wake up to find himself like another Rolando Navarette. Pacquiao must know how to pick his friends and get rid of those who only take advantage of his being a nice guy.
