Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Justice (R) Ejaz Nisar has directed that effective steps should be taken for the provision of flour to the citizens at the fixed rate. He said that flour is a basic necessaity therefore, there should not be any shortage of flour and its maximum supply be maintained for stabilizing its prices in the market.He was presiding over a high level meeting regarding stability of flour prices at Chief Ministers Secretariat here today. Chief Secretary Punjab Salman Siddique, Secretary Finance Sohail Ahmad, Secretary Food Ahmad Yar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Yousaf Nasim Khokhar, Director Food Arif Anwar Baloch and other concerned officers were present.
The Chief Minister directed that Price Magistrates and other administrative machinery should play an active role for controlling the price of flour. He further directed that stern action should be taken against the elements involved in hoarding and profiteering as they cannot be allowed to exploit the poor masses. He said that availability of flour and other essential items be ensured to the people at reasonable rates in all areas of the province. The Chief Minister also appreciated the planning of Food Department regarding storage of wheat and management.Chief Secretary Punjab Salman Siddique said that instructions have been issued to all DCOs to take solid measures for stabilizing the prices of flour and action should be taken against hoarders and profiteers without any discrimination. He said that Secretary Home and Secretary Industries have been assigned special task with regard to prices of atta which are being monitored on daily basis.
