Casey Weldon Till, 26, stabbed members of a family and repeatedly ran over the grandmother with a car on Sunday, killing the woman and seriously injuring at least two others.
The incident started when Casey Weldon Till got into a fender bender with the car in front of him in Lake Hamilton, Florida. When the occupants of the car, 19 year-old Ivon Despaigne and her boyfriend, Angel Gonzalez, 21, got out to check any damage, Casey Weldon Till stabbed them both in the neck. Till then got into their car and repeatedly smashed into the car ahead, occupied by Despaigne’s grandparents, Odalis Cespedes, 41, and Mario Despaigne, 41 and her 6-month-old daughter. The grandparents got their granddaughter out of the car seat and were trying to flee when Till ran over Odalis Cespedes twice, killing her. A scuffle ensued and Gonzalez tried to stop Till’s rampage. Till got back into his minivan and left the scene, hitting a police officer who was trying to stop him.
When police found Casey Weldon Till, he had locked himself in a bathroom and was slashing his wrists. He admitted to the attacks and told police that he was high on crack during the time. He is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, carjacking and improper exhibition of a weapon.
