Ceasefire violations and the killing of five Indian soldiers on the LOC stalls India Pakistan talks.

On Monday, India has chosen to defer talks with Pakistan and official meetings until September end. This decision comes in the wake of alleged border crossfire. But they have not ruled out the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh and Pakistan P.M. Nawaz Sharif in the UN General Assembly in New York in September this year.

Sources said Indian government has no intention to respond to the recommended dates for water secretary-level meeting and the joint commission, which were supposed to be held in the month of September, 2013.

Even the earlier proposed dates for home secretary-level talks to be held in October have been delayed.

The hard stance has been taken in the background of the killing of five Indian soldiers on the Line of Control and continuous ceasefire violations.
