A charity for blind people has announced that it will spend money received from the Big Lottery Fund on IT.
Barrow and District Society for the Blind was awarded close to £10,000 from the fund after it applied for the money in May.
The society eventually received £9,840 from the Awards for All scheme as part of the Big Lottery Fund, which distributes Lotto money to charitable causes.
Wilf Procter, chairman of the charity, told the North West Evening Mail: ‘I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded this grant.’
He also said that the society was pleased with the quick response they received after applying for the fund.
The charity will now spend the award on its technology unit and its new activity and resource building in particular, which will contain a network of computers, as well as hiring staff to teach technology skills.
