Child labouring in most African countries is awesome:
Classrooms are remaining vacant in most African primary schools as children leave schools at the age of 8-16 to search for work.
Many children are not going to school because they go to work, in most cases they work in sugarcane plantations, mining, business etc.
Education is the key to good life we have to insist in saying so. But at the same time we have to admit that we have repeatedly failed our children of not getting the right education appropriately at the right time and the right place. Since 1949 when the international community recognized education as a fundamental human right, several generations of our children have perished, have been exploited beyond doubt, trafficked, have suffered under sexual exploitation, and left as child labourers. Yesterday, we hard all those depressing figures about children enslaved, humanised, forced into child labour or have gone to work as the last resort for their life.
Over 150 million children are still not enrolled in primary schools, but are suffering under the hands of exploitations as child labourers. Sixty-seven or more are at high risk of not achieving UPE by 2015. In 23 countries, net enrolment ratios are declining. Over 80 countries have already missed the gender parity goal of 2005. For how long consider ourselves brave people, sitting and in big offices and indulging in congratulating ourselves? I agree we need to intensify a collective war against all the odds of child labour that are depriving the children.
It is with this perspective that I am appealing for a renewed vigour or campaign in establishing and seeking partnership at all levels to help has intensify the war against child labour in Africa.
People and various organization should intensify the fight to see end of child labour through such innovative approaches like documentary which will create partnership for safe conducive environment for companies and individuals to stop child labour and for the Africa governments to step in with harsh measures to abolish child labour and the independent bodies of the civil society, which is valuable in checks, and balances of social and cultural values that hinders the full realization of education for all children.
Alas! Lets stop child labour!
