Choose a Wedding Theme

Choosing a theme for your wedding can help you plan and make quick decisions about the big day. If you are guided by a theme, your color choices and your decor will blend together. You can make an inexpensive wedding appear as if you spent loads of cash.Have a set date for the big event. This will help you decide if you have time to prepare for an elaborate theme, or if you must go with something simple.

Browse the latest bridal/wedding magazines for ideas. There are themes ranging from vineyard and country themes, to fairytale and green themes.

Make sure your future spouse agrees with the theme. Talk it over and be convincing that this will only make the decisions easier. Remember that the event will look like it was planned by a professional without paying the professional’ s price.

Tear or cut out magazine clippings and keep them in a wedding planner book. Once you settle on your theme you can narrow down your clippings to only things that go along with your theme of choice

Stick to your theme. Brainstorm all of the details that can go along with your theme. FOR EXAMPLE: "Wine theme" -think grapes, wine bottle center pieces, burgundy glasses filled with candles, grapes adorning everything, corks to hold the place-cards, and colors: burgundy and champagne.

Visit a local crafts store or check the internet to see what you can find for your theme decor: center pieces, cake decor etc. Anything that you can buy that is NOT designated as "Wedding" will cost you considerably less.
