Christian Health Care Center recently announced they have hired Wayne Steenbock as new administrator of their Lynden-based skilled nursing facility.
Steenbock joined the team at CHCC as a licensed nursing home administrator with more than 12 years’ experience in leadership and management. Prior to relocating to Lynden, he worked at several care centers across the country where he achieved high quality resident care standards and managed a diverse range of departments, professionals and programs.
Steenbock said he feels privileged to serve Christian Health Care Center residents and staff and that he looks forward to partnering with the board of directors and Anita Tallman, executive director, as the team develops new programs in the New Year.
CHCC to open adult day health and wellness center in 2015
Steenbock’s experience, education and management skills will help CHCC through a major expansion of services in 2015.
“Christian Health Care Center has stepped in to bridge an impending gap in adult day health services after PeaceHealth ended their Bellingham-based program on December 31, 2014. Existing adult day health staff, working alongside CHCC team members, will keep services intact for approximately 70 program participants in Bellingham while a brand new facility is under construction in North Whatcom County. When the new facility is ready, we’ll transition the program to Lynden,” said Steenbock.
Adult day health centers offer a level of care to frail, physically or cognitively impaired seniors during the day. Participants receive nursing assistance, meals and therapeutic recreation that allows them to live independently for as long as possible. Adult day health also provides home caregivers, such as a spouse or other family member, support and consistent respite breaks so they can attend to personal needs.
“Since 1956 CHCC has served the needs of many Whatcom County elders. We’re ready, willing and able to add adult day health services that meet needs in our community.”
Christian Health Care Center is a local non-profit skilled nursing and therapeutic rehabilitation facility. Their mission is to provide compassionate care in a loving environment for the elder population.
