Jammu,
Sep 9: State government announced constituting a team to accesses losses
incurred upon the tenants due to flashflood occurred after heavy rains and
thundering on August 19. Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation along
with his team of officials visited the spot and announced one month free
ration, compensation of losses and desired assistance in making their houses
worth to live in.

But
even after 23 days have passed neither free ration nor other compensation has
been received by these sufferers. In Mishriwala out of total 180 affected
families were given Rs 4000 and out of total 55 families in Purkhu only38
families were given as compensation by Relief Commissioner Office out of
Security Related Expenses.  On the part
of state government neither any constituted committed visited there to access
losses nor any official returned back to take stock of miseries of these
victims.     

About
235 houses of camp dwellers at Mishriwala and Purkhu camps were affected
severely on intervening night of August 18. Belongings including clothes, food
grains and electronic gadgets of tenants were completely destroyed and people
were rendered homeless and foods for days together.

“My
house, STD booth and belongings were destroyed completely, which was witnessed
by Revenue Minister and team of officer along with him on spot” said Rajinder
Dhar of Phase III, Purkhu. “Teshildar on spot declared hundred percent losses
of house hold goods” said another victim Prithvi Nath in Q.No 904, Phase III
Purkhu. Similar opinion was expressed by the victims at Mishriwala.    

When
contacted District Magistrate, Mr M. K Diwidi said that there was discrepancy
in the list framed which cause delay. He said that delay in free ration has
been taken note of and remaining compensation will be given to all the affected
families in a couple of days. Clarifying doubts that state government is doing
nothing in this regard he said that Relief Commissioner aid as well as National
Calamity Relief Fund is being released by Centre Government.

Meanwhile,
a joint delegation of victims from both camps led by Jatin Bhat called upon
DDC, Jammu and apprised him about the ground situation. DDC noted all the
grievances and assured them for early addressing of the same. He also demanded
