Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi
Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Health Minister and senior Congress leaders has expressed the wish of ground level workers, who felt ignored during the coalition regime of more than five years. Going alone in assembly elections as well as in general elections has been apparently a firm decision of Congress in the state now.
But, going by the history of Congress it hardly believes in keeping differences with any political out for the sake of power in the larger interest of common masses. Earlier, Azad had categorically hinted that Congress will go all alone in assembly polls and now his stanch follower and senior Congress leader, Abdul Gani Vakil has made announcement that would definitely force Congress high command to think twice before deciding alliance with any local political out fit in Lok Sabha elections.
Workers in Valley have firm perception that if Congress goes alone it would be in the interest of party and in Jammu region workers are in wait and watch mode. If the Congress leaders decide alliance they would opt for new political parties and if keeps strict to go alone the cadre may be stronger than ever, they feel.
State level leaders including Saif-U-Din Soz, president JKPCC, also has cleared that party should go alone and that would help party in a long way. Even the recently held cabinet meeting scenario signifies that alliance prevailing has become weak and winds are blowing in two different directions.
Policy making is all right and the ground reality matches with the thinking of senior leaders but most worrying for the Congress is that its ministers are hardly available in civil secretariat and those who are available hardly bother to listen the people of Jammu region who comprise a lot of chuck out of total seats they earn.
Usually, these public representatives did not bother to help out the poor and down trodden that wait six months for arrival of darbar move. In this situation Congress ministers and legislators even workers should come forward and help the people to get their problems solved so that a faded image of old political parties get visible and voters restore faith in oldest and largest party.
Whatsoever may be the future of Congress in state, but one and all should understand that whatever the state have today in the name of Art 370, secularism and unity in diversity is the out come of sacrifices made by brave and dedicated Congress leaders.
