Story goes like this, blaming media for disorder in J&K, CPI (M) state secretary, Mohammad Yousf Tarigami Tuesday termed media persons as trouble creators. “Tarigami was furious for no reason. He was in other way trying to stop cameraman from shooting the tumultuous scenes of Assembly and in a fit of rage criticized the role of media,” a local scribe said. He told Yousf that it is not media but politicians who are creating trouble in state for their pity political gains. “If you don’t want us to be here then you should not issue passes to media,” one of the scribes told Tarigami, eye witness narrated.
Not only this but while mocking at democracy of India Tarigami took exception to statement made by Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh on revocation of AFSPA from the state, saying that important policy matters should be left to government and Army should avoid making statements on these matters. "Unfortunately it was political disinterest in Delhi that is providing a room to Army to come public on important policy matters. The issue pertaining to revocation of AFSPA should be left to government and Army should not issue any statements on issues not enshrined in its mandate," the CPI (M) State Committee observed. "The government should bring a resolution in the state Assembly on revocation of AFSPA and the CPI (M) will support its passage," the Committee said, adding, since infiltration is down and the overall security situation has improved, it becomes imperative on part of Centre to consider scrapping AFSPA, press statement circulated read.
But veteran politician and senior Congress leader, presently a cabinet minister in Omar Abdullah’s Cabinet namely Taj Mohi-u-Din is of view that it is better to send army back to barracks than to revoke AFSPA. He said lives of army personnel cannot be risked by revoking the law. He further said that it is issue between army, central government and state government. Which clearly implies those MLAs had seek 200 votes as winning margin that too by arrangement has surely no role speak over the issues like AFSPA and national integration.
