The site’s multi-city architecture, search engine, discussion forums, flagging system, self-posting process, homepage design, personals categories, and best-of-Craigslist feature were designed by the current CEO Jim Buckmaster, in 2000, featuring some main Craigslist categories in 2002: "men seeking men", "casual encounters", "erotic services", and "rants and raves" boards.
The company has assured itself against possible controversies and illegal activities by users, creating a service that gives to the visitors the chance to flag an ad if they think it is against the site policy.
Craigslist has also provided a nonprofit organization, the Craigslist Foundation( 2001), helping the emerging nonprofit organizations to attract the attention of potential donors and promote themselves, while learning the ultimate knowledge required for long-term success.
