Cure for Migraine without Drugs

An electronic portable device experimented by a group of scientists at the Ohio State University has been reported to be effective, without side effects, in preventing the migraines in patients even before it attacks.

In U.S. alone nearly 30 million people are documented to be suffering from this dreaded pain. Only 50 to 60% of migraine sufferers respond to drug treatments. Besides, drugs produce indeterminate side effects and can be taken only after the patients start experiencing the pain. The pain is accompanied with symptoms of weakness, loss of vision, nausea and vomiting sensation.

It is in this context, this electronic device may come in handy. It is reported that the non-invasive transcranial stimulator (TMS) interrupts the ‘aura phase’ of the migraine and thus prevents the attack even before its onset. The ‘aura phase’ is described as the ‘brain storm’ that takes place in the brain which later gets translated into migraine headaches.

The advantage of this device is that it can be used in the home, can be used as a preventive measure and totally dispenses away the the need for drugs and consequently the side-effects of them.
