According to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir’s office one 24 tonne tanker of Hindustan Petroleum (HP) loaded with 12 tonne LPG met with an accident at Bijbehara in district Anantnag and rolled off the road. Since the tanker was fully loaded with LPG and there was apprehensions of danger, as such Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir directed for all sort of assistance for retrieving the tanker safely.
A 50 tonne private crane was put to work to bring the tanker back on the road as the chassis of the tanker had suffered damage due to which the tyres could not move. The repairs of the tanker were conducted at site so that it could be towed away.
The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir ordered decanting of the LPG tanker at site, with experts from HP under the overall supervision of Coordinator Disaster Management. The area had to be cordoned off by the local police and traffic on the National Highway remained suspended for over one hour. The decanting was done in a professional manner by the experts of HP and the tanker emptied.
