On Saturday, family members sacrificed a young girl by severely dismembering her body. The transgression was supposedly accomplished by her own family members ,including her parents and some relatives, in the anticipation of a son. The brutal act took place on the demand of a Tantrik (A black Magician), who promised a son to the parents if a daughter was sacrificed and gifted to Lord Shiva in Hardoi district. Hardoi is small town situated at a distance of 110 km approx. from Lucknow (capital of Uttar Pradesh a northern Indian state) & 394 km approx. from the National capital New Delhi.
The police have arrested the Tantrik, however the family members are missing. People in the neighborhood sensed smell coming out from the house in the morning, a neighbor found nobody except a bag made out of a bed sheet, when he went inside. Later a complaint was launched by the neighbors; police reached the spot where the crime had taken place. Various materials required by the Tantriks to perform these sorts of prayers were recovered from the spot.
Police also recovered the pieces of the body, which was thoroughly tied after cutting in small pieces in a bed sheet. Neighbors immediately identified the girl. This is not the only case when sacrificing a girl like this has been uncovered; with the passage of time parallel type of cases keep appearing in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan “Where Satis are still made”. People rarely educate their daughters, believing instead that she will marry one day and take care of her husband and his family, for which going under her mother’s cookery training would be more than enough. Daughters are still considered a burden on their parents in the Country of Sania Mirza and Indira Gandhi.
