Jammu & Kashmir: A cheat depicting as Non Resident Indian (NRI) was detained from Nagrota area alongwith a girl (name with held) while boarded in a bus towards Katra. Cheat fled with an amount of Rs 15, 000, cell phone bearing number 9419127997 on April 22 from Katra on the pretext to get an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh from his friend near Subash Dry Fruit.
Cheat, identified as, Raj Kakkar from Moga arrived at TRC Taxi Operators Office and asked for one dozen Innova branded cabs for 30 days. After finalizing freight at Rs 2600 per day per taxi, Kakkar hired one cab for Katra to book the hotel there and arrange amount of Rs 8 lakh to be paid to taxi operators in advance against total sum of Rs 9.15 lakh.
On reaching the destination, cheat visited hotel White, where he demanded Rs 15, 000 from Taxi driver who arranged it by informing his office at Jammu. Kakkar also took the cell phone of driver and went to one of his friend to get the amount but never returned back. Driver informed to his office bearers in TRC Jammu and returned back with broken heart, he said.
While travelling towards Jammu from Katra one of the colleague of deceived driver found Kakka boarded in a bus along with a girl posing as newly wedded bride. He stopped the bus and called police and police detained the person and girl hailing from Dharamshala (HP).
While confirming detention, Superintend of Police Jammu Rural, Rajesh Sharma said that the case has occurred at Residency Road and Katra so the case would be shifted to Residency Road Police Post for further investigation, to which, police team has been dispatched and their arrival both Raj and girl would be handed over to them, SP added. He further informed that the charges against accused would depend upon the complaints forged against accused. Last reports of the case were yet to be established.
