Some people are constantly one type of individual and yet others contaminate their adult ego state with either parent or child reactions.
The constant parent will come across as either:-
A critical parent who is controlling, judgmental and authoritarian-someone who, although you may respect, you do not enjoy working for; or
Who, a nurturing parent is smothering and so fussy that you never feel free to be yourself.
If you work for people who are constant parents, you will never seem to have the freedom, power or opportunities to develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
The constant adult
People who are in a contestant state are very effective thinkers, planners and problems solvers. However, they seem to have no sense of humor and very often are totally uncommitted and very often are totally uncommitted in debates about right and wrong. If you work for such an individual, you will develop and grow but you will not find life fun.
The constant child
People who are constant children are usually charming, humorous, creative, impulsive and totally lacking in rational thinking, and often without well-defined social values. Such people are hard predict and often extremely difficult to work for they often behave like small children, stamping their feet and argument at the first provocation.
Contaminated egos
Contamination occurs when the parent or child ego states enter into the adult ego state. People who are in the adult ego state contaminated by the parent often hold tenacious, prejudice-based opinions which they refuse to update in the face of information from the outside world. Obviously, such prejudices act as barriers to communication and problem solving. Such people come across as bigots and appear determined to make others’ lives miserable.
People whose adult ego state is contaminated by the child may often have delusions of their grandeur or inability. Very often, extreme stress causes managers to develop this contaminated ego state. Whatever the reason, the child –contaminated adult be almost impossible to work for.
