Srinagar, September 04 (Scoop News) – Arrangements with regard to Shabi-Qadr and Eid-Ul-Fitr were finalized at a high level meeting of officers of Kashmir division with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoon in chair. IGP Kashmir, S.M. Sahai was also present in the meeting.
Regarding foodgrains and other essential, the meeting was told that 1.30 lakh quintals of rice, 5100 quintals of sugar and 8100 quintals of atta have so far been distributed among the valley consumers upto 3rd of the current month. It was also told that k-oil and LPG cylinders are also being made available to the consumers.
The Poultry Marketing Division of Department of Animal Husbandry has set up eight sale centres at Gow Kadal-A/B, Hariparbat, Umerhair, Athwajan, P.P. Mattan, mobile sales at Civil Secretariat, D.C. Office, Jawahar Nagar, Barazulla, Hyderpora and Chanapora where dressed and live chicken will be provided to the consumers on September 09 and 10, 2010.
The Divisional Commissioner emphasized upon the R&B department to speed up the macadamization work in the Srinagar city in view of Shabi-Qadr and Eid-Ul-Fitr. He asked the SMC authorities to ensure sanitation in and around the Eidgah, Hazratbal, Dastgeer Sahib, Jamia Masjid, Jenab Sahib Soura, Shehri Kalashpora and other shrines in various parts of the valley. He asked the Director CA&PD to intensify market checking on these days to curb the menace of hoarding and profiteering.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the tourism department to ensure better street lighting around foreshore road for the convenience of the people.
The Director Health informed the meeting that medical aid centres fully equipped with staff and medicines would be set up at various places including Hazratbal, Nowhatta, Dastgeer Sahib, Eidgah, Jenab Sahib Soura etc for the convenience of the people.
The Divisional Commissioner was also informed that PHE department is installing additional water posts in Eidgah for the people coming for offering Eid prayers besides water tankers would also be kept available.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the SP Traffic to ensure hassle free movement of the traffic on these days for which parking slots would be identified.
He urged the authorities to work in coordination so that people do not confront any problem.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, Director Health, Dr. M.A. Wani, Chief Engineer of Power, PHE and R&B, Director CA&PD and Joint Director Information, Farooq Ahmad Lone, Joint Director, F&ES besides other officers.
