Srinagar, June 27 (Scoop News) – Member Parliament Dr. Karan Singh, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad and MP & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Prof.Saifuddin Soz today visited to the shrine of Peer Dastageer Sahib Shrine (RA) at Khanyar and expressed their grief over the fire incident.
Member Parliament Dr. Karan Singh that people of all faiths have deep regard for the shrine of Peer Dastageer Sahib (RA) particularly those of the valley. He said that whenever, he visited the valley, he used to pay obeisance at all the shrines of the valley particularly this shrine of Peer Dastageer Sahib (RA). Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited Dastgeer Sahib Shrine (RA) at Khanyar and took stock of the damage caused to the shrine of Hazrat Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) due to the fire incident the other day.
While expressing the grief over the fire incident at the shrine and terming it unfortunate, Azad appealed the people to maintain peace and amity.
Azad complimented the efforts of Sajada Nisheen, Khalid Geelani, Ghulam Nabi Khan and others for displaying courage and protecting the sacred relics and Taburakat. He said that the shrine of Dastageer Sahib being 250 years old and people of the valley have great attachment with it.

Prof.Saifuddin Soz MP & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee visited Khanyar and offered obeisance at the Shrine of Hazrat Shiekh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (Dastageer Saheb – RA). He examined the damage of the shrine caused by a devastating fire two days ago, very minutely.
On this occasion he offered thanks to Sajada Nisheen Khalid Geelani and Ghulam Nabi Khan and others on behalf of Congress President Madam Sonia Gandhi and on his behalf for protecting the sacred relics through a great personal effort.
Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra has expressed shock and grief over yesterday’s fire incident at the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani(RA) at Khanyar.
In a message, the chairman said he is deeply hurt to know of the incident at the shrine which has been the source of solace to lakhs of people irrespective of caste creed or colour.
The Chairman has appealed people to maintain peace and also asked authorities to start re construction work at the shrine on war footing basis.
