New Delhi, December 01, (Scoop News)-The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) is concerned over the reported suicide of a Pakistani journalist a few days back owing to financial problems following non-payment of his salary for four months by the Royal TV management. The DUJ also expresses support and solidarity with the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) which held countrywide protests today.
In a statement DUJ pointed out that this is not an isolated incident. Such incidents have also been reported in India and elsewhere. Increasing insecurity of service, contractualisation, long working hours etc is putting unprecedented pressure on journalists in India also.
Despite the Supreme Court verdict, managements are refusing to implement the wage board while some are finding newer ways of circumventing them, statement said.
